Mati Kaim MA, MSc, DELTA, FHEA

Mati is the Academic Lead for English & Communication, has overall responsibility for all English modules, and liaises with a variety of stakeholders in order to design the English materials and courses. He has worked with both home and international students at a variety of universities, such as the University of Oxford and Middlesex University, across pre-sessional, in-sessional, foundation, and international programmes, and examined throughout Europe and in South America. In addition, he has worked privately with a number of high net worth individuals. His professional interests mainly lie in developing Learner Autonomy and Critical Thinking Skills.

Mati holds degrees and teaching qualifications from a range of Russell Group Universities: a BA in Russian & History (University of Nottingham), an MA in Creative Writing & Literature (University of Edinburgh), and an MSc in Applied Linguistics & Second Language Acquisition (University of Oxford), which was completed with Distinction, as well as a teaching certificate in English (CELTA), and a postgraduate teaching diploma (DELTA), awarded by the University of Cambridge and undertaken at UCL. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a certified Examiner for two international exam boards, and a fluent speaker of Russian and Spanish.

When not working, Mati is a keen photographer and avid traveller, having spent time in approximately 60 countries across six continents, and can usually be found reading a good book, listening to a podcast, or watching sports.
